I admit I don't know what Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter #2 or Wireless LAN adapter Local Area Connection* 4 refer to. Asus UX305F laptop running Windows 10 x64. Becomes quite warm since the problem, maybe due to trying to connect. Used to run extremely cool so it is a noticeable difference.

I’ve been using this laptop for a year and a half and I’ve never had to plug in any device just to connect to wifi. My Wireless Network Adapter is Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network Adapter. I use an Acer Aspire E1-472G-54204G1. I use Windows 10. My Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapters #5 and #6 also only appear as Hidden Devices.
Assuming that you are already rooted (via z4root, Gingerbreak, or some other means), search for "EasyTether Lite" on the Android Market and download it. Go into Settings>Wireless & Networks. Uncheck the box that says "Mobile Network", "3G", "Mobile Data" or something along those lines.
This could be a problem in the contacts between the wifi card and the motherboard and a clearing could fix the problem or the wifi card is failing and you will need to replace it. The best option is to contact Asus support they will be able to guide you on how to fix this problem.

Dec 28, 2021, 3:49 AM. From a pristine Windows 10 21H2 install on my HP EliteDesk 705 G3, I turn on the Hyper-V feature with all subcomponents. Upon restarting I no longer have an internet connection. Looking at the adapters I see that the physical adapter is marked as unplugged (even though it is clearly plugged).
