I also have a mixture of rail, subway and buses. The buses pick up and drop off at the rail and subway stations and are for neighborhood traffic. The subway moves people from one neighborhood to another. The train is used to move people from one side of town to another with fewest stops possible. I get high occupancy rates on all lines.

When I build the subway the railways take a secondary role in mass transit, since I build them to go inside and across the loops covering more area than the railways. When I build rural towns I just lay a main track and maybe a branch here and there. Obviously sometimes I experiment with different topologies.
It may be, but it is, as far as I can tell, the most heavily ridden tram line on earth, beating out even the fake-metro tramlines of the world. But not Metrobüs or Transmilenio. Those BRT systems are absolutely metro level, thus the name Metro - Büs :) But that's my point, BRT can and does operate at metro levels. Trams do not.
