Just joined and looking for some advice. Bought a 60 plate c-max diesel manual 1.6 last December from Ford in Swansea. Last month a strange grinding noise started when shifting into 3rd gear. Took to local Ford dealer, who after a week has declared it cant be fixed and need a new gear box. Fortunately its still under warantee.

6. Bad Transmission Fluid. Like your automatic transmission, the torque converter is full of transmission fluid. This fluid helps cool the converter and transfers energy. If your C-Max has bad transmission fluid, it can cause the torque converter to go bad. Taking a look at the transmission fluid should be the first thing that you do.
